My Digital Footprint

Remove Formatting from selectionI don't use Facebook, I don't use Twitter, I'm not that kind of guy. I spend my time on Forums, Youtube, and Web Design tutorials. I post the occasional Youtube video, and I code a new template, for others to download. I don't really socialize with my family or friends using social networking sites at all. At most, I'll play Minecraft with my friends, to spend some time. I don't social network, I play, and read.

Is an Angry Birds addiction good, or bad?

Angry Birds is a very powerful game, for its size, and simplicity. It has captured many hearts and minds with its unique take on a simple genre of video games. Out of all the casual gamers, there is an addict for all types of video games. Even Angry Birds. The question is, is the addiction good, or bad? I think that it is both. First of all, almost all video games train your mind. Video games have the player concentrate and think a lot, and there is no question that Angry Birds does so as well. Having to launch a bird at the right height, and the right speed to hit your target isn't easy. Yeah, that's a pretty nice skill to have, eh? One problem. All addictions have this problem. You're addicted. You can't keep away, you have to do one more game, you won't talk to your family. That's not good, and there are a lot of people addicted to the game.

What I've learned, and some goals.

I've learned many things, in this ICT class. First of all, I've learned how to use the Mac Operating System, which was almost impossible for me, since I am an all-time, Windows guy. It helped me learn how to understand things, and helped me realize, that I can learn the almost impossible kinds of things, such as the Mac OS. I've learned that I can get off task at times, but in the end, I always manage to get the work done, with a reasonable effort.

Near the beginning of this course, I had planned a list of goals. Although, there were only two, that were important for the course. My first one, was to understand, and learn everything, that it taught to me. The second one, is to know if I am capable for a programming course. Right now, I'm not sure if those goals have been met, because we are only now starting programming, but I'm sure, that i will meet my goals, because I will be trying hard.

Earthquakes disrupting communication.

Many of you, may have heard, that a fatal earthquake, which triggered a tsunami, has struck Japan. Communication, is one of the things it affected. How will the people at the site, know what's happening, if television doesn't work, cell phones, etc. In Japan, they cut off all cell phones, so that rescuers would communicate easier. It's devastating for what can happen, or what's happening.

My favorite image file format.

I do in fact, have a favorite image file format. Image file formats range from .bmp, .jpg, to .gif. My favorite would have to be .png (Portable Network Graphics) because it has one of the greatest image qualities, it supports transparency, can support animation like .gif, and it's just plain easy to type out. I suggest you try out .png today.

Should schools go paperless?

Some schools, even elementary, are proceeding to more of a digital area. No paper, no textbooks, just iPad's, computers, and other devices. Should schools follow into this area? No. It is a life skill to learn how to write, and study books, for almost every career. You develop your writing style, which no one else can mimic, or copy, it is a fun process.

Different country domains.

First of all, there is more than just the casual .com, .net, or .org domain name. A domain can tell us where the website is from, such as .ca, which is Canada. Other ones, such as .jp (Japan), .it (Italy), .eg (Egypt), .ch (Switzerland), or .sg (Singapore), tell us which country it is from. It is a very smart system.

Invalid urls.

If you are advertising your website, make sure that you have a valid url, and check before you put it up. A Bedbath&Beyond advertisement displays their website url as, bedbath&beyond.com, when their real url is bedbathandbeyond.com. This is crucial for advertisers, so others may properly visit your website.

How to determine if the info in books, newspapers, or online is accurate.

There are many problems with getting information with other sources. Sometimes the information you collect from them can be accurate, or inaccurate. The biggie here is after you've found a source that you're not sure of, you can look at another one to check. It's always good to look at more than just two sources to check, look for more. If you're in the green, then go on ahead, if you are in the red, then keep looking for "correct" information.

How would school be with no computers?

It would be very different, since humans rely on machines now a days. I, and
others, would be doing more manual labor, and jobs would take longer. We would be hand writing a lot, for notes, and for essays, instead of typing things out. People would also have better relationships as friends, because we wouldn't be using computers, distracting us. It would be a better environment for people, since we won't be constantly distracted.
